Dapoxetine is a prescription medicine used to treat premature ejaculation in adult men aged 18 to 64.
It contains the active ingredient dapoxetine, which is also the active ingredient found in Priligy. Generic dapoxetine is available in 30mg and 60mg film-coated tablets.
It is an on-demand treatment, meaning you take it before anticipated sexual activity rather than taking it every day.
Dapoxetine belongs to a group of medicines known as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs).
It increases the activity of serotonin in the nervous system. This can increase the time it takes to ejaculate and improve control over ejaculation, helping reduce the distress or frustration associated with premature ejaculation.
Both treatments contain dapoxetine as their active ingredient and are available in the same 30mg and 60mg strengths.
Priligy is the branded version of dapoxetine, while generic Dapoxetine is supplied without the Priligy brand name.
The recommended starting dose is 30mg.
If 30mg does not provide a sufficient response and you have tolerated it without moderate or severe side effects, a prescriber may consider increasing your dose to 60mg.
Treatment should not normally be started at 60mg, and the higher strength has a greater likelihood of side effects.

Other side effects can include:

-Tiredness or sleepiness
-Anxiety or restlessness
-Increased sweating
-Flushing
-Indigestion
-Dry mouth
-Difficulty getting or maintaining an erection
Dapoxetine can occasionally cause fainting or a sudden fall in blood pressure, particularly when standing up. Taking the tablet with a full glass of water and staying adequately hydrated can help reduce this risk.
Seek medical attention if you faint, experience a seizure, develop significant changes in mood, or have thoughts of harming yourself.

Active ingredient:
Each tablet contains dapoxetine hydrochloride equivalent to either 30mg or 60mg of dapoxetine.
Other ingredients:
Lactose monohydrate, microcrystalline cellulose, croscarmellose sodium, colloidal anhydrous silica and magnesium stearate.
Film coating:
Hypromellose, lactose monohydrate, titanium dioxide, triacetin, black iron oxide (E172) and yellow iron oxide (E172).
