Viagra Connect Melts are orodispersible films containing 50mg of sildenafil. They are used to treat erectile dysfunction in adult men and provide an alternative format for men who would rather not swallow a tablet.
Each individually wrapped film is placed directly onto the tongue, where it disintegrates within seconds. It can be taken with or without water. Menschem offers quantities of 4, 8, 16, 24, 32, 48 or 64 films, supplied in multiples of the original four-film pack.
Sildenafil belongs to a group of medicines called phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors, commonly known as PDE-5 inhibitors. It relaxes blood vessels in the penis and improves blood flow when you are sexually aroused, helping you achieve and maintain an erection suitable for sexual activity.
Sexual stimulation is required. Viagra Connect Melts do not create an automatic erection or increase sexual desire.
Viagra Connect Melts and Viagra Connect tablets both contain 50mg sildenafil and work in the same way. Official guidance confirms that there is no difference in their expected effectiveness or how quickly they work.
The main difference is how they are taken. The tablet is swallowed with water, while the orodispersible film is placed on the tongue and allowed to dissolve. This may be more convenient when water is unavailable or if you prefer not to swallow tablets.
Viagra Connect Melts should be taken approximately one hour before sexual activity. Their onset is expected to be the same as Viagra Connect tablets, which normally begin working within around 30–60 minutes.
A heavy or high-fat meal may delay the onset. Individual response times can vary.
They may not be appropriate if you:
-Take nitrate medicines or use recreational “poppers”
-Take riociguat or ritonavir
-Have recently experienced a heart attack or stroke
-Have severe heart or liver problems
-Have very low blood pressure
-Have certain inherited or previous serious eye conditions
-Have been advised to avoid sexual activity
-Take another erectile dysfunction treatment
Your medical history and current medication will be assessed before treatment is supplied.
Viagra Connect Melts may be taken with or without food, although a heavy meal can delay their effect. Avoid grapefruit or grapefruit juice and limit excessive alcohol, as drinking heavily can make it harder to achieve an erection.
Active ingredient: Sildenafil 50mg, provided as sildenafil citrate.
Other ingredients: Hydroxypropylcellulose (E463), macrogol, crospovidone (E1202), povidone (E1201), sucralose (E955), macrogol polyvinyl alcohol grafted copolymer, levomenthol, hypromellose (E464), titanium dioxide (E171) and ferric oxide red (E172).
