Regaine Extra Strength is a topical treatment containing minoxidil 5%, licensed in the UK for the treatment of hereditary hair loss (androgenetic alopecia) in men.
Male pattern baldness commonly affects the temples and crown, gradually causing thinning over time. Regaine is applied directly to the scalp and works locally at the level of the hair follicles.
Unlike oral treatments such as finasteride, Regaine does not affect hormone levels. It works directly where it is applied.
Regaine contains minoxidil, a vasodilator that helps increase blood flow to hair follicles.
Minoxidil is thought to:
-Stimulate follicles from the resting phase into the growth phase
-Prolong the growth phase of the hair cycle
-Increase follicle size
-Improve hair shaft thickness
