Use a new condom every time you have sex. Carefully open the foil wrapper, taking care not to tear the condom with fingernails, jewellery or sharp objects.

Place the condom on the tip of the erect penis before any sexual contact. Make sure the roll is on the outside, then pinch the teat end to remove air and roll the condom down fully to the base of the penis.

After ejaculation, hold the condom firmly at the base of the penis while withdrawing. Remove the condom carefully, wrap it in tissue and dispose of it in a bin. Do not flush condoms down the toilet.

Only use lubricants that are suitable for use with condoms. Oil-based products, such as baby oil, petroleum jelly, body lotions and some massage oils, can damage latex condoms.

Do not use a condom if the foil is damaged, the condom feels sticky or brittle, or the expiry date has passed.
